The Salvadoran high school scholarship program is one facet of Faith Weavers’ special international outreach to the rural poor in the San Vicente region of El Salvador, where our sister parish of Miramar is located. It’s an investment we make to improve the lives of youth and families in that needful nation.
Faith Weavers’ high school scholarships fund fees and expenses not paid by the government beyond 9th grade, such as school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and transportation—costs that, sadly, keep most Salvadoran rural youth from attending school through graduation. Our scholarships also make possible valuable youth group activities that contribute to academic persistence and success.
In each of the past two years we have sponsored scholarships to benefits 26 students.
Please consider making a gift. A full scholarship is $420 and one-half scholarship is $210. Contributions at any level will, of course, be gratefully accepted.
Your check for a tax-deductible gift should be made out to Faith Weavers. Please note “Friends of El Salvador” on it. Your contribution can be mailed to Faith Weavers of St. Mary, 2020 Mission St, Ste 404, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858-4425.
Recipients have expressed their gratitude in many letters sent to us. Here are some examples:
“With nothing more to say than thank you—a million times thank you—and please never stop helping young people like me.”
“Thanks to this help, people like me are able to continue and reach a dream, to continue with [my] studies and a better future, not only for myself but also for the community as well.”
“I give thanks to God and you for helping me with the scholarship since, without your help at this time, I would not have been studying.”
Your charitable participation in our Faith Weavers’ Salvadoran scholarship program will be greatly appreciated.
